Section I
»

Article I – Name

The name of this club shall be HP Cycling Club (HPCC).

Article II – Purpose

First: To promote and foster among its members a closer bond for their mutual benefit, and to promote and conserve the best interests and true spirit of cycling.

Second: To provide a means of introducing cyclists to others with a common interest.

Third: To provide education about cycling laws, safety, equipment and etiquette.

Article III – Memberships

Section 1:

Membership shall be available to all HP employees and HP retirees as defined by the HP Personnel Policies and Guidelines

Section 2:

Memberships are individual and non-transferable

Section 3:

Any member of this organization who commits any act which discredits or endangers the club or its members, or shall refuse or neglect to comply with such rules and regulations shall be subject to suspension or expulsion. Such member will be given ten days written notice and the right to be heard by the club members. After these considerations the member may be suspended or expelled by a two-thirds vote of the club.

Section 4:

As cycling is a sport requiring at least two people for safety, the HP Cycling Club allows the spouse or significant other of a member, who is an HP employee or retiree, be allowed to join the club so long as over 70% of members be HP employees or retirees. These individuals will have to obtain and sign the same release forms as any other member.

These sponsored members obtain most of the rights, obligations and privileges of club membership, including the ability to attend functions and off-site meeting of the club.

Article IV – Dues and Fees

Section 1

The fiscal year for the club shall be from January 1 through December 31.

Section 2

The annual fee will be $10 per member.

Article V - Meetings

Section 1

A General Membership Meeting of the club will be held in January of each year. Additional meetings will be held on an as needed basis with the dates and times posted in advance on the club web site. Club information will be primarily communicated through a monthly electronic newsletter.

Section 2

The club officers may provide for the holding of any other meetings as may be deemed necessary and desirable.

Article VI – Officers

Section 1

The Club Officers shall consist of Club Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Training Ride Coordinator, Team Jersey Design Coordinator and Treasury/Membership Coordinator. Their duties shall be such as their title would indicate or such as may be assigned to them respectively from time to time. The Club Officers shall hold office for one year, with the election of officers occurring at the January meeting. The terms of office shall being immediately after the election.

Article VII – Bylaws

Section 1

Bylaws shall be reviewed at the January meeting. Any proposed amendments will be posted on the club website at least three weeks prior to the annual meeting.

Section 2

Amendments to these bylaws must be approved by a simple majority of those present at the January meeting. Any amendments will take effect immediately upon approval unless otherwise noted.
